Last Monday we went to Turin, the capital city of Piedmont, as a school trip. Our city is an important tourist destination and is famous for its various monuments. We went to the city centre because we wanted to visit it with an English speaking guide whose name is Marianne. We didn’t expect it but it was very interesting!
Turin is the ideal place to visit on a day trip because its centre is not very big. We went there by underground e we met the guide at Porta Nuova train station. First of al,l we moved into the Sambuy’s gardens where we listened to the history of this place. There were lots of trees and flowers and Sambuy’s statue too.
After that, we went to a car park to visit what remains of the ancient Roman sewers, made of a material called ‘puddinga’ a mix of water, sand and clay. Then, we walked to Saint Charles square where we visited the twin churches after having looked at the majestic Emanuel Philibert’s statue in the middle of the square. He was represented on a horse with a raised up leg, which means that he died for the consequences of the battle. The next stop was Carignano palace that, as we discovered, was also visited by the famous Buffalo Bill.
The second-to-last stop was the Subalpine gallery. It was very cool and there was a classic café and even a cinema that shows great movies. We didn’t know that in Turin there was a gallery too!
We enjoyed this trip a lot, so we want to recommend it if you want to explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
